Carrickfergus & District Senior Gateway Club was formed 40 years ago, and curently meets weekly in the Gateway Church ,8a Governors Place, Carrickfergus.
We presently have membership of approximately 90, with a weekly turn out of 80/85. Our volunteers would number around 26 and we are one of the larges clubs in the province. We have a Management Committee which meets monthly, but the “spade work” is carried out on our Wednesday night meetings, which are eagerly awaited by our members.
Outings on a Wednesday to such places as – the leisure centre – the near by ten pin bowling alley- a well known local café. Results in the required “outing sheets” being quickly filled in. competitions/conferences/displays/Christmas carol services, and Christmas dinners etc throughout the year keep everybody on the move. Not be overlooked however, it’s the very important respite facility our Club offers to the parents and carers.
Gateway represents the open gate to all that is good, and the right belongs to those with a Learning Disability.
