VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role title:  Gateway Club Volunteer.
Responsible to:  Club Leader in Charge

 Aim: To assist in the provision of a safe, secure and stimulating environment for members with learning disabilities in order for them to participate in various leisure and social activities.

The role of volunteer:

 Volunteers are requested to:

  • Support member/helpers to carry out their role within Gateway.

 

  • Attend on a regular basis and show a degree of commitment and enthusiasm towards the members of the club.

 

  • Notify the club leader of any absence with as much notice as possible.

 

  • Adopt a social role with all members.

 

  • Promote dignity and respect to all members, ensuring that all members uphold their rights of choice.

 

  • Participate in a range of leisure and social activities with members.

 

  • Assist the club leader and other volunteers when necessary.

 

  • Attend training events that are provided by the club.

 

  • Show willingness and co-operation with other volunteers as part of a team.

 

  • Adhere and refer to when necessary the guidelines devised in the Mencap/Gateway manual.

 

  • Adhere and refer to when necessary practices in line with the club handbook.

 

  • Aid in the promotion of the club and our members in the community.

 

  • Be willing to carry out transport duties on a rotational basis.
